Kulchitsky, Nikolai Leonidovich

Nikolai Leonidovich Kulchitsky (April 1, 1908, Saturdays - February 24, 1992, Kiev ) - Soviet and Ukrainian cameraman, inventor. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1983).

Biography

Born on April 1, 1908 in the village of Subbottsy (now Znamensky district of the Kirovograd region).

In the cinema since 1928. In 1930 he graduated from the camera department of the Odessa Film School. In 1930-1933 he studied at the graduate school of the Kiev Film Institute . Since 1930 - Director of photography VUFKU (All-Ukrainian Film Management, Odessa).

In 1934-1983 (intermittently) at the A.P. Dovzhenko Kiev Film Studio .

He had copyright certificates for technological developments of camera equipment. So, when shooting the film “ Sorochinskaya Fair ” in 1938, he was the first to use the bipack method at the Kiev film studio , in which shooting was carried out simultaneously on two films stacked by emulsions to each other [1] [2] .

The art of N. Kulchitsky is marked by the boldness of camera techniques, excellent work in black and white and with close-ups of the actors.
