Melgunov volost - an administrative unit of the Tambov district of the Tambov province with a center in the village of Melguny . It was liquidated in 1919.
History
Melgunovskaya volost was formed as part of the Ottoman district of the Tambov province in 1835. Then these lands were controlled by Prince Peter Mikhailovich Volkonsky . At that time, the following villages were included in the volost: Melguny , Peschanka, Shulgino, Akhmatovo, Nikolskoye.
Since 1873, the volost was attributed to the Pokrovsky-Martinsky camp of the Tambov district. In 1897, the village of Politovo (now Mikhailovka) was annexed to the volost.
In the volost in 1897 there were 3 zemstvo schools. At that time, 5,689 people lived in the volost, including in the settlements:
- Melguns (Novo-Pokrovskoye) - 1 422 people.
- Gerbil - 183 people.
- Shulgino (Small Melguns) - 1 186 people.
- Akhmatovo (Big Farm) - 995 people.
- Nikolskoye (Malaya Puza, Puzinka) - 377 people.
- Mikhailovka (Politovo) - 1526 people
