Born in Perigueux , died about 478 A.D. e. Details of his life are unknown. He was mentioned by Sidonius Apollinaris , speaking of him as an outstanding speaker (although, perhaps, it was about his father). He was associated with Perpetus , Bishop of Tours in 461-491, calling him his master. Probably, by his order, he wrote “Vita S. Martini” (6 books in Latin hexameter ) - a poem about the life of St. Martina , inspired by Sulpius North and containing valuable information about the life and customs of his era, has long been attributed to St. Peacock Nolsky , as well as some other works. Around 473, he also wrote a short poetic dedication to the Basilica of St. Martin Tursky , as well as the poem “Visitatione Nepotuli Sui”, where he talks about the miraculous healing of his granddaughter’s groom. These works were probably also written at the request of Perpetus.
Vita S. Martini was published with a French translation by Corpé (Paris, 1849), and Polene's Oeuvres complètes, which included several of his poems, was collected by Jura (Paris, 1585).
