Osh-Pando

Osh-Pando (Saininsky Gorodishche, a town on a hill) is a multi-layered archaeological monument near the village of Sainin, Dubunsky district of Mordovia, 2nd, 1st millennium BC. er - 1st millennium n. er Located on a high Cretaceous cape. Preserved defensive structures: the shaft and moat. The length of the platform is 81 meters, width is up to 44 meters. It was investigated in 1946–49 by P. D. Stepanov. O. P. - The first studied settlement of Balanov culture (the Bronze Age , according to some scholars, is the Fatyanovo culture ). It gave the name to one of the stages of the periodization of this culture. Fragments of ornamental stucco vessels, fragments of stone axes, copper spearheads were found. Investigated the remnants of land dwellings. The finds of the Iron Age are also highlighted: earthen vessels, pyramidal weights, spindling, “horned bricks”, iron and bone arrowheads. The top layer of Osh Pando is left by the Imenkov culture tribes: residential buildings deepened into the ground, food pits with grain remnants, agricultural implements (earrings, sickles, millstones), metallurgy and metalworking items, weapons, rider equipment, earthenware, various decorations related to 5 —7th cc. Finds indicate the contacts of the Osh Pando population with the ancient Mordovians.
