Career

Club

Rene Ferrier spent most of his career playing at the Saint-Etienne Club. As part of the “green” midfielder played 11 seasons, twice became the champion of France and scored 39 goals in the country's championships in 264 matches played [1] . In the 1961/62 season, a footballer in the Saint-Etienne team won the French Cup .

In 1965, the striker moved to the club of the second division “ Bastia ”. With this club Ferrier managed to return to Division 1 following the results of the 1967/68 season. In the 1968/69 season, the midfielder scored the first goal in the top division in the history of the Bastia (at the gates of Nice ) [1] . In the summer of 1969, the football player completed his professional career.

Team

Rene Ferrier made his debut in the French national team on December 3, 1958 in the qualifying match with Greece [2] . As part of the national team, the midfielder participated in the semifinal match of the European Championship against Yugoslavia [3] .

The last time Ferrier played for the national team was December 2, 1964 in a friendly match with the Belgian national team [4] . It was the 24th football match for the “tricolor”.
