Biography
He studied law in Paris, worked as a lawyer for some time, in 1826 he became professor of law at the University of Paris.
Works
His work as a translator contributed to the acquaintance of French scientists with the works of German legal scholars, novelists.
Major works: Histoire da droit romain (Paris, 1821), Positiones juris romani ad titulum de asuris et fructibus (Paris, 1826), Rapport sur les priviléges de l'Opéra (Paris, 1827), Cours d'histoire du droit romain ”(Paris, 1843),“ Précis de l'histoire du droit civil français ”, published in“ Commentaire sur le code civil ”. He also wrote a number of biographies of lawyers for Biographie universelle. One of his main translations was the translation of Mackeldey's work Histoire des sources de droit romain.
