Reginald Veljonson ( English Reginald VelJohnson , born August 16, 1952 , Queens , New York ) is an American actor and comedian. Best known for his role as Sergeant Al Powell in the movie " Die Hard " (1988) and his sequel (1990). Also played the role of Karl Winslow in the sitcom “ Family matters ” (1989-98).

Early life and education
Veljonson was born in Queens in New York on August 16, 1952 in the family of Nurse Eva Johnson ( Eng. Eve Johnson ) and a medic, Reginald Johnson Sr. ( Reginald Johnson, Sr. ) [2] . His father left the family when Weljonson was 13 years old, and his mother married John Reilly [3] . Veljonson went to Benjamin N. Cardozo's high school ( Eng. Benjamin N. Cardozo High School ), where his future classmates were CIA head George Tenet and future porn actor Ron Jeremy [4] . He received a bachelor of arts degree from New York University [3] . Before starting his career as an actor, he changed the name Reginald Vel Johnson to Reginald Veljonson, connecting the middle name and last name [5] .
