College of Design and Decorative Art MGHPA named after S. G. Stroganov

The College of Design and Decorative Arts was founded in 1920. At that time, the technical school was opened as a special educational institution for the training of personnel for the handicraft industry; it joined in the work on the restoration and development of Russian art crafts.

In 1931, the college was renamed the Moscow Art and Industrial College. M.I. Kalinin.

C December 5, 1991 Moscow Art and Industrial College. M.I. Kalinina was renamed the Moscow Art College of Applied Arts (college).

In 2011, by order of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the school was annexed to the Moscow Art and Industrial Academy named after S.G. Stroganova .

Orientation to the study and development of Russian folk crafts was the main line of the methodological and practical activities of the college, however, after the reorganization of 2011, teaching folk art exists on a par with teaching design. This also defines the main specializations for which training is conducted:

• wood art painting (including icon painting);
• lace art;
• artistic weaving and carpet weaving;
• art metal
• art design;
• environment design;
• graphic design;

Over the years, prominent cultural figures, artists, folk art researchers, and leading craftsmen have worked here. Among them are V.N. Baksheev , N.N. Voronov , A.V. Moravov , N.D. Bartram , A.V. Vasnetsov , K.F. Yuon , A. A. Volter , N. N. Sobolev , N. F. Vasilenko , S. P. Evangulov , B. N. Lange , E. G. Telyakovsky .
