Biography
Rajee Nalder was born in Vienna ( Austria-Hungary ), and was the son of the actor and singer of the operetta Sigmund Natsler (1862-1913). In his younger years, he performed in second-rate plays of Viennese theaters and from 1930 - in several cabarets in Paris. After World War II, he worked in the BBC German language service.
Being handsome in his youth, Nalder made his film career only after a fire that turned him into a monster . Nalder is perhaps best remembered by the audience for the role of the killer in Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) and the role of the vampire Barlow in the film Fate Salem by Stephen King (1979). Outwardly, Barlow resembled the nasferatu from the Marnau film; he, like the hero of Max Shrek, was a bald monster with claws and knotted front teeth. In the English-language Internet, Nalder is also known for the episodic role of the Andorian ambassador Shras in the episode of the Star Trek TV series (“Babel's Journey”) and the brief role of a communist in the spy movie John Frankenheimer “The Manchurian Candidate ” (1962), where he appeared at the personal request of Frank Sinatra .
Rajie Nalder died of bone cancer in Santa Monica, California .
