Biography
Guterbok came from a wealthy Jewish family who converted to Christianity. Bruno's father is a banker Gustav Gueterbok. Bruno Guterboc studied linguistics and in 1882 he defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Königsberg . He was engaged in private research in Berlin, participated in the work of the German Oriental Society , where he served as a protocolist for many years. In 1912 he was at the site of the excavations carried out in Amarna by Ludwig Borchardt , where a bust of Nefertiti was discovered. In 1928 he was awarded the Leibniz Medal of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
In 1907 he married the writer Grete Auer. Two sons were born in this marriage: Hans Gustav Güterboc , who later became a Hittologist , and Bruno.
