From the age of 17 he studied the Berten shorthand system at the Sorbonne . From 1830, he worked as secretary of the editorial offices of the publications “ Le Messager des Chambres ” and “ Le Moniteur universel ”, soon becoming the head of the stenographic process there and later heading the verbatim service of the parliament.
The shorthand system he had developed was mainly based on the Bertin system; The first edition of his work was published in 1828. Despite his popularity, until the end of his life he was not satisfied with the result of his work. One of the students was Alber Delone , who greatly improved his system. He was also a music critic in the La France edition, wrote under the pseudonym P. Crocius.
His works are written by Système de sténographie, Sténographie musicale and Nouveau manuel complet de sténographie (his main work), as well as his autobiography, in which he wrote that he would like to create a more perfect system of shorthand. The seventh edition of his main work was published in 1867.
