Details of his life are few. It is known that he was originally a rabbi , but then converted to Catholicism. Known for his collaboration with the Flemish printer Daniel Bomberg in creating the first printed Hebrew Bible - Biblia Rabbinica - in Venice in 1517-1518. He received a good education and knew three languages. Christianity was adopted around 1518, deciding to serve the Catholic Church. Becoming an Augustinian monk , he devoted himself to the proselytism of Jews who did not accept Christianity like him. In his sermons, he spoke sharply negatively about Jews and earned the nickname "the scourge of the Jews"

Prior to his conversion to Catholicism, he published a Latin translation of the psalms Psalterium ex Hebraeo translatum (Venice, 1515).
