Visualization Toolkit ( VTK , English visualization toolkit ) is an open cross-platform program for three-dimensional modeling , image processing and applied visualization. The library is written in C ++ , but modules in Tcl / Tk , Java, and Python are also available.

VTK is available under the BSD license and is used in many products, including Molekel , ParaView [3] , VisIt , VisTrails , MOOSE , 3DSlicer , MayaVi [4] and OsiriX [5] .
History
The program was originally created in 1993 as an addition to the book "The Visualization Toolkit: An Object-Oriented Approach to 3D Graphics" (from the English - " Visualization Toolkit: An Object-Oriented Approach to 3D Graphics" ) by Prentice-Hall . The authors of the book and the program are three developers: Will Schroeder, Ken Martin and Bill Lorensen, who wrote them in their free time.
