Biography
Lawrence Harvey Zeiger (Larry King) was born November 19, 1933 in the New York area of Brooklyn in a Jewish family of immigrants from Austria and Belarus .
During his career, he conducted more than fifty thousand interviews with politicians, athletes, artists and other celebrities [4] . He is an Emmy Award winner, a two-time Peabody Award winner and a ten-time Cable ACE Award winner.
Parents Larry, Jenny and Eddie Zeiger, emigrated from Belarus and Austria, respectively. Their first son, Irwin, was born in 1932 , but died at the age of six from appendicitis . After Larry, another son was born in their family - Marty.
In 1957, at the suggestion of James Sermons (CBS commentator), he moved to Miami . In pursuit of his dream, he made an offer to go on the air on WAHR radio. So began his career in the media. He switched to working for CNN when it was just starting to develop, at the suggestion of Ted Turner [5] .
He was married eight times. Four children from three wives.
Since 1997, married his eighth marriage to Shawn Southwick.
In 1997, along with other well-known actors and leaders of Hollywood, Larry King signed an open letter to German Chancellor Helmut Kohl , published in the International Herald Tribune , which stated the inadmissibility of infringement of the religious rights of Scientology followers in Germany [6] .
In July 2010, Larry King announced the voluntary imminent closure of his show. The latest issue was released on December 16, 2010. The guest of the program was Arnold Schwarzenegger .
May 29, 2013 Larry King sold the rights to his television show Larry King Now [7] [8] to RT America , where he continued to work.
