Story
The action takes place in Bristol (filming took place in Dublin [1] ). The action takes place around Amelia, an 18-year-old hearing-impaired girl trying to integrate into the world of hearing people after cochlear implantation . Amelia witnessed the murder of a policeman, and the investigation allows the police to open a corruption network [2] .
Inspector Jim Edwards, Amelia’s uncle, is investigating the gang’s murder. Amelia's parents annoy her with hyper-care, and she, having recently placed herself an implant, decides to spend some time with her uncle's family. Walking with the dog, she witnesses the murder of policewoman Jane, who worked on cases of domestic violence. Amelia recognizes one of the murderers, who turned out to be a police officer from the anti-drug squad, and subsequently helps to expose corrupt police officers [3] .

Criticism
John Preston of The Telegraph praised Amelia’s game and technical solution for demonstrating the sound of speech for the hearing impaired, but criticized the stereotypical lip-reading plot and the weak plot. “Director tried to add some tension to the action, but there was simply nothing to work with in the plot of Fiona Serres” [4] .
Damien Love, a reviewer of the Scottish newspaper , also scolded a weak subject in his column (calling it “a painfully naive pursuit of a killer”) and noted fruitless attempts to create tension in the frame [5] .
Barr was praised in the reviews of all British newspapers. Critics positively noted the television demonstration of the culture of the deaf and informing viewers [6] . On the other hand, a reviewer of the Disability Arts Online website expressed numerous claims specifically to the image of deafness and deaf in this series, especially the unrealistic operation of the implant [7] .
