Fyodor Uspensky , Byzantine, by which one of the tacticons is named
Byzantine tactics ( dr. Greek τακτικά ) - official lists of Byzantine titles and posts. For the early period of Byzantine history, this information is contained in Notitia Dignitatum ; for the 9th – 10th centuries, 4 tacticons are known: (842/843), Filofey Clitrology (899), Beneshevich Tacticon (933–944), and (971–975). For the fourteenth century, lists of posts are given in the treatise “De officialibus palatii Constantinopolitani etc.” of Pseudo-Kodin . These documents were created to help the Atriclins for the proper location of guests at the solemn imperial dinners. Information from tactics is the main written source about the structure of the Byzantine authorities.
