Football Biography
Player Career
Pupil of Kherson football Sergey Shevtsov, began his professional career in the team of his hometown of Tavria , where he was invited by coach Igor Gamula . It made its debut on April 14, 1992, in the 9th round match of the first championship of Ukraine against the Mariupol “Azovets” , replacing Vitaliy Popadopul in the 85th minute [1] . In total, in his first championship at an adult level, he played 9 matches. The next season, the young player spent in another team of the Kherson region - “Meliorator” (Kakhovka) , after which he returned to Tavria. During the winter off-season, in late 1993 - early 1994, Sergey took part in the mini-soccer championship of Ukraine, playing for the local futsal team “Energy”.
In the spring of 1994, Shevtsov moved to the Russian club of the second league Torpedo (Arzamas) , as part of which he became the silver medalist of the Center zone and the next season, together with the team, played in the First Division of the Russian championship.
In early 1998, Sergei returned to Kherson, continuing his performances in the local "Crystal". Especially successful for the striker was the 1998/99 season , in which he scored 24 goals in 24 matches for his club, becoming the top scorer in the Pre-League tournament. Such striker performance could not go unnoticed by coaches and breeders of clubs of a higher rank. In the summer of 1999, Shevtsov transferred to Dnipropetrovsk. The forward made his debut in the elite division of Ukraine on July 16, 1999, in the match Dnipro - Metallurg (Zaporozhye), and after the round on July 24, in the game against Prykarpattya , Sergey distinguished himself with his first goal in the major league by 25 minute of the match hitting the gates of the Ivano-Frankivsk goalkeeper Yuri Chumak, equalizing the score in the match. In total, in the debut season for Dnipro, Shevtsov took part in 27 matches out of 30. In the next season, the striker almost never played for the main team. Having entered the field in two starting fights, later, until the end of the first round, he was in the second team of the Dnipro team.
At the end of the fall of the 2000/01 championship Sergey left Dnepropetrovsk. At the beginning of 2001, the striker tried to find a job in a foreign club and even managed to make his debut in the Polish Extraclass, as part of the Grozlin-Discobolus club, but for various reasons failed to gain a foothold in the Polish team and soon Shevtsov returned to Ukraine, where he signed a contract with Poltava Vorskla , who performed under the guidance of coach Andriy Bal in the major league of Ukraine. Gradually, an experienced striker becomes one of the leaders of the team. In the 2002/03 season , Shevtsov with 8 goals scored becomes the best scorer in Poltava, having played the largest number of games in the championship for the team - 29. In the next championship, despite the operation on the knee joint postponed in the offseason [2] , Shevtsov managed to recover to the second part of the season, having missed only one game in the championship and, along with the legionnaire of his club, Laki Idakhor, again became the best among the Vorskla goalies.
At the end of the championship and the completion of the contract with Poltava residents, Shevtsov leaves the club, moving to Simferopol Tavria . Having played in the opening matches for the Crimean club, the striker was injured again. After a long process of treatment and rehabilitation, it was already difficult for the forward to count on a place in the starting lineup and in early 2005 Sergey decided to change the situation by accepting an offer from the head of Transcarpathia Viktor Ryashko to pursue a career in his team. The attacker spent the second round of the 2004/05 season in a team from Uzhgorod. Shevtsov played his last match in the major league on May 28, 2005, taking part in the game against Odessa Chornomorets, in which he scored a goal that won for his team 90 minutes. Relapses and consequences of old injuries did not allow the attacker to play and train at full strength and at the end of the championship, a 29-year-old football player was forced to end his professional playing career.
Coach Career
Having left big football, Sergey Anatolyevich worked as a coach in the Kherson School "Crystal" and was a playing coach of the local amateur team "Sigma", with whom he took part in the championship of the region and amateur championship of Ukraine. In 2007, a sports school team made up of children born in 1990-1991 took part in competitions for the Kherson Cup among adult teams. Shevtsov’s wards managed to break into the finals of the tournament, where they met with the Gileya-Invest team. The main time of the match ended in a draw, and the young players were more accurate in the penalty shoot-out, becoming the first time in the history of this cup tournament with the honorary trophy [3] . After some time, the president of the Gileya-Invest team Sergey Viktorovich Nesterenko suggested Shevtsov to lead his team, who soon moved to New Kakhovka and began to play under the name "Energy" [4] . Starting from the city championship, the team led by Shevtsov became the champion and owner of the Cup of the Kherson region, performed in the amateur championship of Ukraine. In the 2010/11 season , Energia gained professional status and became a participant in the championship of the second league. Wards Shevtsova confidently started in the tournament, becoming one of the leaders of the group “A”, for a long time occupying the first line in the standings. But in the final part of the championship, power engineers lost their positions, eventually finishing in 3rd place. The next season, the team from New Kakhovka finished in fourth place. In the summer of 2012, the main investor and president left Energy, the club almost ceased to be financed. As a result, the main players left the team, ceased cooperation with the club and the entire coaching staff led by Shevtsov [5] .
Soon, Sergei Anatolyevich headed the first-league Krymteplitsa , where he was invited by the owner and president of the club, Alexander Modestovich Vasiliev . Shevtsov had known the new leader since January 2011, when the coach and his previous team took part in the Krymteplitsa Cup, becoming the winner of this tournament. The mentor was tasked with reformatting the team, and in the tournament plan - to finish at least 5 places [6] . But the young coach failed to quickly rebuild the game and establish gaming connections. After a successful start, which began with two victories and one draw, the team suffered several unfortunate defeats and approached the winter off-season taking 14th place in the standings. The result of management was perceived as unsatisfactory and in December the agreement of the coach with the club, by mutual agreement of the parties, was terminated [7] .
After leaving the Crimea, Sergey Anatolyevich returned to his native Kherson, where in March 2013 he headed the “Crystal” [8] . September 14, 2018 again headed the Kherson club [9] .
