History
Early years
The team was formed in 1990 in Manchester and initially performed in clubs and schools. For a very short period (1993-96), the guys managed to lead the UK national hit parade eight times, and their single “Back For Good” (1995) was among the top five songs of the Billboard Hot 100 American hit parade. Shortly after breaking into the American market, Robbie Williams announced his departure from the group, later becoming a very popular solo singer, selling over 55 million of his CDs worldwide. In February 1996, the remaining four members released a farewell hit - a cover version of Bee Gees ' song " How Deep Is Your Love " - and announced the dissolution of the team.
Immediately after this news, Britain was swept by a wave of teenage hysteria that allowed soloists Gary Barlow and Mark Owen to release a couple of rather successful solo hits. Quite quickly, their solo career was derailed and there was no news of the team until 2006, when four members of the group reunited and released the new single, “Patience”. He led the British charts for four weeks and became the most commercially successful hit in the history of the group. In early 2007, they headed the UK charts for the tenth time, this time with the single “Shine”; a mid-world reunion team tour is scheduled.
May 22, 2008 the team became the winner of the prestigious music award Ivor Novello-2008 in the nomination "Best song performance" for the single Shine .
Reunion with Williams
In mid-July 2010, the official Take That website announced that Robbie Williams, as a full member of the collective, took part in the recording of the new Take That disc [1] , called Progress . The new longplay of the group was released on November 15, 2010. On the first day of release in the UK, 235 thousand copies of the album were sold, which was the record of the decade [2] .
On October 4, 2011, Gary Barlow announced that Robbie Williams continued his solo career. [3] However, as the representative of the group said the day before, this does not mean at all that the English musician is finally leaving Take That [4] .
On August 12, 2012, Take That performed at the closing ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in London , without Robbie Williams , who, due to his wife’s pregnancy and recording a new album, could not fly from Los Angeles . In October 2012, it was announced that all five members of the group were planning to record a new album and release it at the end of 2013 [5] , and Gary Barlow announced earlier that the group was planning a large stadium tour in the summer of 2014 , in support of the upcoming album [6] .
Trio
Take That became a trio when it was announced in September 2014 that Jason Orange was leaving the band. Robbie Williams also did not participate in the recording of the album. Album III was released on November 28, 2014 and climbed to the top of the UK chart. The tour in support of the album took place in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
The next Take That album, called Wonderland, was released on March 24, 2017. The release of the first single Giants took place on February 17. He made it to 13th place on the UK chart, with Wonderland peaking at No. 2. The UK tour in support of the album began on May 5, 2017 in Birmingham. The tour program was changed due to a terrorist attack in Manchester at a concert by Ariana Grande, and Take That combined the three concerts that were to be held in Manchester into one. The band played a concert at Etihad Stadium on June 18, completing a UK tour.
On November 11, 2017, the group went on a foreign tour, which included Australia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
