3-Phosphoglyceric acid ( 3-FGK , 3-phosphoglycerate ) is an organic compound, an ester of glyceric acid and phosphoric acid , an important intermediate metabolite of glycolysis and the Calvin cycle . In the Calvin cycle, 3-phosphoglycerate is formed as a result of spontaneous decomposition of an unstable six-carbon compound formed as a result of CO 2 fixation on a ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate molecule . Thus, for each molecule of fixed CO 2 two molecules of 3-phosphoglycerate are formed [1] .

Calvin's cycle
During the dark reactions (Calvin cycle), two 3-FHA molecules are formed, some of which return to the cycle and regenerate to ribulose-1,5-diphosphate , and the other is reduced to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate . This is the first product formed during the reactions of the Calvin cycle [2] .
Amino Acid Synthesis
In addition, 3-phosphoglycerate is a precursor for the synthesis of serine , which in turn serves as a precursor for the synthesis of cysteine and glycine in the homocysteine cycle [3] .
