Description
Antennae 10–11-segmented. Body length from 1.6 to 2.1 mm. Wide mandibles with 4-7 denticles. The main color is yellow. Species of Acropyga paleartica and Acropyga arnoldi are close to it. Presumably, like other species of the genus, they have a trophobiotic relationship with worms ( Pseudococcidae ; ants breed these worms as obligate myrmecophiles- trophobionts ) [1] [2] [3] .
The species was first described in 1915 by the Italian worldmecologist Carlo Emery ( Carlo Emery , 1848–1925) [1] [3] .
