Fedor Matveyevich Gauenschild ( 1783 - 1830 ) - Austrian scholar, professor of German language and literature at the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum [1] , corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1818 [2] .

Biography
Born January 15, 1783 in Germanstadt, Transylvania.
As an Austrian citizen, he lived in Russia in 1809-1829. He was the director of the Noble boarding house at the lyceum, and in 1814-1816 he held the position of director of the lyceum. F. M. Gauenschild translated Karamzin's “ History of the Russian State ” from the manuscript into German.
According to other sources, Gauenschild left Russia in 1822 and settled in Dresden , where he was engaged in printing the third volume of the Karamzin History. In 1824 he was sent to Greece on the island of Corfu as an Austrian consul.
He died on November 18, 1830 in Germanstadt, Transylvania.
