Passenger (group)

The group was formed in 1995 by Patrick Yerksten and Niklas Engelin . Both members wanted to play music that was neither thrash metal nor melodic death metal , which they performed in their main bands. Under the name Cliff, two demos were made at Studio Fredman's audio studio, which were never released. After interrupting Engelin's performance as an In Flames session guitarist during the Whoracle tour, Anders Frieden , In Flames vocalist, showed interest in and joined the band. ^[one]

In 2000, the group resumed its activities, continuing to make demos. In 2001, the group recorded another demo, which recorded earlier versions of the songs “Used”, “In My Head”, “Circus” and “Drowning City”. After the third demo, the group finally recorded and released their debut album, Passenger. A video clip “In Reverse” has also been released.

In February 2004, on the band's official website, Yerksten announced that the band was in the process of recording their second album. However, after this, Anders Frieden, vocalist of Passenger and In Flames, noted that he did not have enough time for this project due to activities in other groups. In an interview, Frieden said that in early 2010, as soon as he received a break in In Flames, he was going to re-assemble the group to record the second album. However, this did not happen, as Anders continued the tour with In Flames until October 2010, and then began to record the next album with them. By 2013, a decade after the release of the debut album, no attempt was made to restore the group. However, in an interview with Unsung Melody Frieden noted that he was thinking about it.
