Life
Born October 2, 1470 in Naples, Italy. It was the daughter of Alfonso II , king of the Neapolitan kingdom , and Hippolyta Maria Sforza .
After the death of her brother, Ferdinand II, Isabella inherited the titles of the Duchess of Bari , Princess Rossano and the Queen of Jerusalem.
There is a theory that Isabella of Aragon became the model for Leonardo da Vinci writing the painting " Mona Lisa ". There is also a suggestion that Isabella entered into a morganatic marriage with Leonardo da Vinci, who for eleven years was a court painter in Milan, and bore him two sons and three daughters.
She died on February 11, 1524 in Naples.
Children
In 1489 she married her cousin, Duke of Milan, Gian Galeazzo Sforza (1469-1494). They had three children:
- Francesco Sforza (1491–1512)
- Bona Sforza (1494–1557) - Queen of Poland and Grand Duchess of Lithuania , wife of King Sigismund I the Old
- Ipolita Maria (1493-1501)
