History
The church stands on the eastern outskirts of the village, on the shores of Lake Beloe (Chereyskoe) . At the beginning of the 16th century, on this site Bogdan Sapega founded the Basilian monastery, where in 1599 a stone Trinity Church was built instead of a wooden one [1] . According to other sources [2], the monastery was founded at the end of the 16th century by Chancellor Leo Sapieha immediately with a stone church, from the white walls of which the monastery was called Belotserkovsky. Parents of Leo Sapieha are buried in the crypt of the church. The church had a copy of the famous image of “The Sign of the Mother of God ”, transported in 1640 from Ruzhany by the son of Chancellor Casimir Leo . In 1834 the monastery was abolished, over time, the temple was destroyed. At the beginning of 2014 the church is in ruined condition, restoration is planned.
Architecture
Monument of architecture of the early baroque [3] . The one-tower temple hall with a large semicircular apse (not preserved). The three-tier four- belfry belfry is completed with a flat dome with four lucarnes . Flat facades (wall thickness 1.7 m) are separated by pilasters , profiled cornices . In the two-meter thickness of the walls of the belfry is an internal staircase. The entrance is made in the form of a promising arch . There are narrow and high arched window openings in the side facades and tiers of the belfry. The prayer hall is blocked by a cylindrical arch with formwork . [1] Many architectural details (wall thickness, narrow loopholes, powerful belfry tower) indicate the defensive nature of the church [4] .
Value
“... The Trinity Church is of greater importance for the history of culture: it is unique not only for Belarus, but also for Russia and Italy, a fragment of the early Baroque building (fragment - because today only walls remain from the temple). In its original form, they survived the only ones in the world - from the time when in Italy elements of this style only began to appear. The cultural value of the Trinity Church is recognized by the government: its restoration is included in the state program ... "
