Biography
Irina Pavlova was born on June 5, 1954 in Sverdlovsk . In 1976 she graduated from the Theater History Department of LGITMiK (workshop of N. A. Rabinyants ), in 1983 - graduate school of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Art Studies in Moscow, Ph.D.
Irina Pavlova is the author of over 600 articles on the history and theory of cinema, modern cinema, acting, television and theater in various periodicals in the USSR, Russia and abroad. She taught the history of film and television in various educational institutions:
- 1995 - Professor at the Barcley-University School of Film and Television, San Francisco, USA
- 1995—2000 - Associate Professor of St. Petersburg State University
- 1995-1999 - Associate Professor of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Cinema and Television
- 1999-2002 - Associate Professor of the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theater Arts
Member of the editorial board and author of The Newest Cinema Dictionary (1997-2001).
Member of FIPRESCI - International Film Press Association since 1995. She was a member of the FIPRESCI jury of a number of film festivals: in Oberhausen (1990), in Karlovy Vary (1996), in Moscow (1997), in Berlin (1998), the Kinotavr festival (1999), in London (2001) [1] .
At different times, Irina Pavlova hosted television programs on cultural issues in general, and cinema in particular. These include "Cinema and Time", "For those who love cinema", "Cinema Show", "Nota bene".
Member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR (1985-1991), since 1991 - member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia. In 1994-1999 She was a member of the Board of the Union of Cinematographers.
Since 1996, Irina Pavlova has been managing the press center and is the art director of the All-Russian Film Festival “Vivat Russian Cinema!”.
Since 2002, he has been the artistic director of the Russian programs of the Moscow International Film Festival [2] .
Since 2015, she is the scientific secretary of the State Central Museum of Cinema [3] .
Husband - Yuri Pavlov (1950–2016), film director [4] .
