Born in the family of a doctor and economist. In 1994, in the city of Krasnogorsk , he became one of the founders of the Sons group. In 2003, the group changed its name to " Free Flight ". December 7, 2015 in the publishing house "Buki Vedi" the novel "Melody of Freedom (Jazz Poem)" is published.

Guru Ken: How did you get the idea to write about 60-80s music? After all, by age you only indirectly affected those times.

Ilya Polezhaev: It always seemed to me that we had only two happy generations over the past century - the sixties and the “nineties”. I am from the generation of the 90s. If the sixties gained internal freedom after being liberated from Stalinist times, the freedom to listen to something, to do something, then we have freedom in all respects. The connection between the two generations has always been strong. We understand each other. Just now, Seva Novgorodtseva was banned from the BBC, and suddenly - once ... and you can listen to him!

Guru Ken: And Novgorodtsev seemed to become immediately less interesting as soon as he was "allowed."

Ilya Polezhaev: For those who did not hear it, it became a discovery even after “permission”. We got it all at once. We did not get out of Gorbushka, because everything appeared there - both music and films. The idea to write a book appeared as the idea of ​​a message - from my generation to that generation, from the 60s. And immediately the plot appeared.

The whole book was born from one scene when the heroes say goodbye at the airport - one stays here in Russia, the other leaves permanently abroad. And they are silent because there is nothing to say.

Guru Ken: I liked that the story has a positive open finale. When I read, I was afraid that everything would end with blackmail, death, tragic thoughts about the difficulties of a musician’s life, as usual in non-fiction.

Ilya Polezhaev: The reader is always waiting for the development of history. Well, let's say my musician hero starts collecting stadiums. But for me it is absolutely not important! It is important that the hero got the opportunity to play everything that he would like to play! He has the opportunity to do what he loves. He brings light through his work.

For people who are not creative themselves, it is sometimes difficult to explain that the very ability to engage in creativity is a huge achievement for the creator! Perhaps the greatest achievement in life. So this ending was written intentionally - a happy ending. The story is that people, having passed through all the trials, continue to do their favorite thing, and bring joy to the world.

In June 2018, at the 29th Kinotavr festival, the short film Divorce was presented by director Maria Shalaeva, in which, along with actors Maria Shalaeva, Mikhail Yevlanov, Ilya Polezhaev took part. Also in this film sounds the song of the group "Free Flight" - "Kvass", which is performed by Ilya Polezhaev.

August 1, 2019 on the label "Bomb Peter" released an audio book "Eternity". This audiobook is a trilogy ("Past", "Present", "Future") of the Free Flight group (Moscow). The author himself read it - Ilya Polezhaev. The album includes 60 tracks of the group (30 verses and 30 lyrics).

Guru Ken: And today, the Eternity audiobook has been released. Previously, the actor Mikhail Yevlanov read everything at you, but now you yourself began to read?

Ilya Polezhaev: Yes, I decided to read it myself. Misha has her own supply, I have my own. I became interested for myself, how I could read it. On an audiobook, I will read 60 of my lyrics, these are lyrics and just poetry. Without music. But on the triple album he still reads Yevlanov.
