It was founded in 1971 by singer / bass player / guitarist Janis-Marie Johnson and keyboard player Perry Kibble [1] .
Their first single, the disco dance number "Boogie Oogie Oogie" In the fall of 1978, he headed the American chart for three weeks ( Billboard Hot 100 ) and sold more than 2 million copies [1] .
The other most famous hit of them (1st place in the Billboard rhythm and blues chart and 3rd place in the Hot 100 in spring 1981) - a cover of the famous hit Kyu Sakamoto of 1963 “Sukiyaki” - was completely different in style, languid and juicy [1] .
In the 1980s, the popularity of the group faded away, and Janice-Marie Johnson began working solo.
