Kondratyuk Crater ( lat. Kondratyuk ) - a large ancient impact crater located in the southern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the Soviet scientist, one of the founders of astronautics , Yuri Vasilyevich Kondratyuk (1897-1942) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater dates back to the preectarian period [1] .

Crater Description
The closest neighbors of the Kondratyuk Crater are the Hvolson Crater in the west; Meitner Crater in the northwest; Langemak Crater in the northeast; Delport Crater in the east; Fermi Crater in the southeast and Hilbert Crater in the southwest [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 98.0 km [3] , depth 2.9 km [1] .
Kondratyuk Crater has a polygonal shape, significantly destroyed over a long time of its existence. The shaft is flattened, best preserved in the western part. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1530 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 11900 km3 [1] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed, marked in the north-eastern part by the satellite crater Kondratyuk A (see below), in the south-western part - by the satellite crater Kondratyuk Q.
