Article 178 of the Constitution of the Uzbek SSR said:
The state emblem of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic is an image in the sunshine of a sickle and hammer surrounded by a wreath consisting of ears of wheat on the right and cotton branches with flowers and open cotton bolls on the left; at the top of the coat of arms is a five-pointed star; below is a part of the globe. On the ribbon of the wreath there are inscriptions: on the left - in Uzbek, on the right - in Russian “Proletarians of all countries, unite!” At the bottom of the ribbon bow is the inscription “UzSSR”.
Since 1978, the hammer and sickle on the coat of arms have become gold instead of silver. [1] [2] [3]
The coat of arms was the state symbol of Uzbekistan until the adoption of the modern coat of arms in 1992.
