Life and career
The rapper was born in Kansas City, on 51st Street in Middle Core. He formed The OG's, and released several projects with her, but later left the band to begin a solo career. After that, he met California-based rapper Killa Tay, who helped Anthony release his debut album, Only In Killa City, under the pseudonym The Vett. The album featured the single “It's Real,” which helped the rapper become popular in Kansas. The single was featured by his friend, rapper J-Rock, who died several years ago.
In 2001, after returning from California, Fat Tone was arrested as a suspect in the murder of a pregnant woman and her child. Anthony spent 9 months in prison, but after that he was found not guilty. Police announced that witnesses to the crime refused to cooperate with the investigation.
In 2003, with the support of Killa Tay, the album "Tha Sitck-Up Kid" was released. On it, the rapper spoke about the prosecution and criticized the Kansas police.
On October 17, 2003, Fat Tone and several other rappers rode for an interview on KKFI 90.1, when a black Ford F150 Pick-Up Truck stopped in front of them and from unknown people opened fire on rappers. Everyone except Fat Tone managed to escape from the car without a single wound, but Anthony Watkins himself was injured in the chest. The rapper managed to survive. The next album “I'mma Get Cha” was released with the assistance of rapper C-Bo .
Death
After Fat Tone released the Sky's The Limit mixtape in 2004, rapper Mac Dre dies on Highway 71 in Kansas. Due to some lyrics, all suspicions of murder fell on Fat Tone. On his fourth mixtape, My Hood Betrayed Me, Watkins tried to refute his involvement in the death of Mac Dre.
May 29, 2005 Fat Tone and his best friend Jermaine "Cowboy" Akins won a lot of money at a casino in Las Vegas, and then went to the hotel. On the same day, their bodies were found with fatal gunshot wounds. Police said two men were shot from an AK-47 assault rifle . The investigation suggests that two men were killed in revenge for the death of Mac Dre in November 2004. However, police later denied Anthony Watkins involvement in the murder. It was revealed that rapper Mac Minister lured Fat Tone and his friend to death. He told them that he was organizing an interview with the famous rapper Snoop Dogg for them to sign a contract with his music label. The investigation proved that Mac Minister left the hotel with two men a few hours before their murder. On July 31, 2008, Mac Minister was sent to prison for life.
