Aigyrkum ( Kazakh. Aigyrқұm ) - sands in the East Kazakhstan region of Kazakhstan , part of the large sandy valley of the Irtysh River (Kara Ertis) east of Lake Zaysan . The length is 35-40 km, the width is 12-15 km. Stacked by Quaternary sediments. In the vegetation - shrubs, wormwood, sedge. The climate is continental - with cold winters (–34–40 ° С) and dry, hot summers (average temperature 24 ° С, absolute maximum 40–42 ° С). 200 mm of precipitation falls annually, mainly in the form of heavy rains. Used as a winter pasture .
