History
Created on the territory of the Albanian lands of the Lezha League and the Montenegrin Zeta after their accession to the Ottoman Empire. Albania lost its independence after the siege of Shkoder in 1478-1479. In 1496, the Sanjak Bey Feriz Bey annexed the Principality to the Sanjak Zetsk. Zeta according to Serbian sources from 1514 to 1528 was part of the Montenegrin sandzhak isolated from Skadar sandjak under the control of Stanko Chernoevich [1] .
After the Battle of Cruz in September 1796, Old Montenegro and part of Brda were freed from Turkish rule. In 1867-1913, in its place there was a vilayet of Skodra . As a result of the Balkan Wars in 1914, an independent Albanian principality was formed on the site of the vilayet.
