Xylamidine is a drug that acts as an antagonist of serotonin receptors of the 5HT 2A subtype and, to a lesser extent, 5-HT 1A . Xylamidine does not overcome the BBB , which makes it convenient for blocking peripheral serotonergic reactions (in particular, from the side of the heart and blood vessels ) [1] [2] and the gastrointestinal tract , [3] without causing such central effects of 5-HT 2A blockade, like drowsiness and sedation, or decreased effectiveness of the simultaneously applied central 5-HT 2A agonists.
