Biography
His full name is Abul-Saib Usman ibn Mazun ibn Habib. He belonged to the clan of the Juma, a tribe of Quraysh [1] .
He was married to the Havel Bint Hakim. [2] According to Ibn Ishaq, he led a group of Muslims who resettled in Ethiopia in order to avoid persecution by Meccan polytheists [3] . After the false news of the reconciliation of the Prophet Muhammad with the Quraysh, he returned to Mecca and stood up under the protection of his uncle Valid ibn al-Mugira. Soon he refused this privilege and preferred to receive his share of the insults received by his co-religionists [1] .
According to legend, Usman decided to devote himself to prayers and take a vow of chastity. Usman’s wife reported this to the prophet Muhammad, and he gently reminded Usman that he, as a prophet, had not abandoned his family life, that he, Usman, was responsible for his family and should not take monastic vows [4] .
Usman ibn Mazun died in 624 in the medina . He was the first mujajir buried in al-Baki cemetery [5] .
