History

Under the Han Empire, the county of Evan (野王 县) was created in these places. Subsequently, the districts of Ude (武德 县) and Bosian (波 县) were isolated from it, and under the Jin Empire, it was disbanded, but then created again. Under the Sui Empire, in 596, it was renamed Henei (河内 县). Under the Tang empire, the districts Taihang (太 行 县), Zhongyi (忠义 县), and Zilin (紫 陵县) were allotted from it, but then they were rejoined in the county of Henei. Under the Song Empire, Ude County (武德 县) was allocated from Henai County, but soon it was rejoined by Henei County.

Under the Tang Empire, the authorities of the Huizhou region (怀 州) were located here. Under the Jurchen Jin Empire, the area was renamed Nanhui (南 怀 州). Under the Ming and Qing empires, the authorities of the Huaqing Council (怀庆 府) were located in Henei County. In August-September 1853, the city of Huaiqingfu was subjected to a two-month siege of the Taiping troops, hoping to capture a large amount of weapons and ammunition prepared by local artisans for government troops, but the fortress stood and the taiping were forced to lift the siege and move on to Shanxi province. After the Xinhai Revolution , administrative structure reform was carried out in China, and in 1913, the Huaqing Government was abolished, and the Henei County was renamed Qingyang (沁阳 县).

After the victory in the Civil War , the Pingyuan Province was created in August 1949, and the county became part of the Xingxiang (新乡 专区) Special Region of Pingyuan Province. On November 30, 1952, Pingyuan Province was disbanded, and the Xinxiang Special Region became part of the Henan Province. In 1960, Wenxian County was annexed to Qingyang County, but was recreated in 1961. In 1967, Xinxiang Special District was renamed Xinxiang County (新乡 地区).

In 1986, Qingyang County became part of the Jiaozuo City District.
