History
1966–1991
Cherkassy Automobile Repair Plant (CHARZ) was built in 1966, the company specializes in overhauling PAZ-652 buses [1] .
After 1991
In 1993, the plant mastered the production of caravans, as well as engaged in re-equipment of Izh-2715 pickups, and later - mastered the re-equipment of GAZel minibuses [2] .
On May 15, 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine entered the state-owned enterprise Cherkassy Automotive Repair Plant into the list of state-owned enterprises of Ukraine, which are subject to privatization until the end of 1995 [3] . In the future, the plant was privatized and reorganized into OAO.
In 1998, the plant became part of the industrial holding Bogdan .
In 1999, “Cherkassky bus” began the production of a small class bus “Bogdan”, which was manufactured using units of the Japanese ISUZU concern [4] .
In 1999-2000 , the research institute “ Ukravtobusprom ” on the chassis of the ISUZU NQR 71P car developed the model of the A091 bus with a welded body on the frame of rectangular tubes (at the same time, the use of fiberglass parts in the design accelerated the manufacturing process and reduced the cost of the bus) [1] . In addition, in the early 2000s, the plant mastered the production of plastic body parts for the LuAZ-1302 [5] .
November 12, 2000 CHARZ was officially renamed the "Cherkassy Bus" [2] .
In 2002 - 2003, a new model was developed - the A092 bus on the ISUZU NQR 70P-5 chassis (the suspension and steering remained virtually unchanged from the A091). In 2003, the release of A091 was discontinued due to the launch of the release of the model A092 [6] .
In 2002, the plant produced 472 buses (278 buses more than during 2001) [7] .
In 2003, the production of buses "Bogdan" based on the chassis and engine of the Japanese company Isuzu [8] continued at the Cherkassy Bus plant, while in late December 2003, pilot production of the Bogdan A-064 model was started [7] . In total, in 2003, the plant assembled 1,233 buses — twice as much as the total production of buses of other manufacturers — Lviv and Boryspil automobile plants combined.
In April 2004, a general agreement was signed with Isuzu Motors Limited (Japan), in accordance with which Bogdan Corporation received the right to sell Ukrainian-made Isuzu buses in Ukraine under the name of Bogdan (outside Ukraine, under the name Isuzu) ) [9] .
After the start of the Orange Revolution in November 2004, the Cherkassy Bus plant (as well as other enterprises of the Bogdan Corporation) suspended work as a sign of support for V. Yushchenko [10] .
In 2007, the plant reached its maximum production volume, this year 1,500 cars were produced [2] .
The economic crisis that began in 2008 complicated the position of the plant [11] .
In March 2011, OJSC Cherkassy Bus was withdrawn from the Bogdan Corporation after the sale of a controlling stake [12] . The controlling stake was bought by an asset management company “Easy Life” [13] .
Also, in 2011, the A093 bus (version of the A092 bus on an extended chassis with a passenger capacity increased to 50 people) went on sale and went on sale [14] .
In total, in 2011, the plant produced 828 buses (of which 610 were sold outside Ukraine) [15] .
In the spring of 2012, the connection with the departure of the enterprise from the Bogdan Corporation, the management of the Cherkassy Bus company, announced the rebranding of its products [16] . After restyling, the buses produced by the plant are called “Ataman” [17] .
In 2013, “Cherkassy Bus” produced 389 buses [18] .
October 29, 2014 at the automobile exhibition was presented a demo of the new model of the tourist bus - "Ataman" A096 [19] .
In 2014, “Cherkassy Bus” produced 347 buses [20] .
In 2015, the plant produced 330 buses [21] .
In 2016, the plant produced 202 units of motor vehicles [22] , as of the beginning of March 2016, the degree of localization of buses produced by the plant on the ISUZU aggregate base exceeded 50% [2] .
In 2017, the plant released389 units of automotive technology [23] .
In 2018, the plant released 488 units of motor vehicles [24] .
In January - June 2019, the plant released 209 units of automotive technology [25] .
Current State
Cherkassy Bus produces buses of model lines A092, A093 of various modifications - for urban, suburban and intercity passenger traffic. The model range is represented by city, intercity, tourist, school buses, buses for the transportation of operational teams of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and mountain rescue teams. The plant also manufactures special buses under the Kvant mobile X-ray room.
The company specializes in the production of small class buses for the transport of passengers and special buses for national economic purposes. The company has a closed production cycle and its own scientific and technical base.
The production capacity of the enterprise allows to produce up to 3000 buses per year. Production includes the manufacture of the body and assembly of the bus with the installation of purchased units and components. The company has a mechanical-procuring, body, assembly shop and fiberglass shop. During 1999 - 2006, a comprehensive re-equipment of production took place: a new painting station, a glass-reinforced plastic shop, a new welding shop, a reconstruction of production premises, gasification, and new equipment were acquired.
The company's products are exported to: Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and other countries.
The company participates in the implementation of the military order:
- Thus, in July 2014, for the military unit No. 3078 of the National Guard of Ukraine, 60 specialized buses were purchased from the Ukrainian Bus LLC (the official distributor of the Cherkassy Bus plant) for the transportation of personnel (50 Ataman A-09316 units) worth 33.445 million hryvnia and 10 buses "Ataman" A-09620 with a total cost of 15.74 million hryvnia) [26] .
- In February 2015, the Dnepropetrovsk convoy battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine was delivered another bus "Ataman" [27]
