Biography
Tsukanova (Tikhomirova) Galina Ivanovna was born on February 26, 1942 in the village of Manuylovo, Kalinin Region . In 1955, after the death of her mother, she moved to Leningrad, where in 1959 she graduated from school No. 80 and entered the Leningrad Institute of Precision Mechanics and Optics . Tsukanova G.I. graduated from LITMO in 1965 with a degree in Optical Instruments, receiving a diploma with honors. During her studies at the institute, she was a Lenin scholarship holder. In 1968, after graduating from graduate school, she was enlisted as an engineer in the department of optical-mechanical devices. In 1969 she defended a dissertation for the degree of candidate of technical sciences on the topic "Research and calculation of astronomical aspherical lenses with correction of field aberrations", supervisor - Churilovsky V.N. , Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor.
Tsukanova G.I. For many years she worked at LITMO at the Department of Theory of Optical Instruments under the guidance of Professor M. Rusinov : NICH engineer (1968-70), NICH senior researcher (1970-72), associate professor of the Theory of Optical Instruments department (since 1972; since 1996, the Department of Applied and Computer Optics).
She made a significant contribution to the development of the Vega international space project , leading the creative team of LITMO employees, who was tasked with creating the optical equipment of the spacecraft. For participation in the project was awarded the USSR State Prize (1986). Using the equipment created by the creative team under the direction of Galina Ivanovna, unique pictures of Halley's comet were created.
The author of the creation (together with Demidov N.V.) of a mirror-lens lens (Based on the Richter-Slefogt scheme with a special near-focal two-lens positive corrector, from a meniscus negative, rotated concavity to the space of objects, and a biconvex positive lens).
