The name of the palace, established under Karl of Württemberg , dates back to the noble family of counts von Monfort , to whom, at least since the 14th century, this site belonged. Until 1861, the castle of Argen was located here - one of the family residences of the Monforts (finally abandoned in 1810).
Currently, the palace is used as a restaurant, and a venue for concerts.
