Biography

Born on October 1, 1968 in the city of Osinniki, Kemerovo region [1] .

From 1987 to 1989 he served in the Strategic Rocket Forces [4] in the city of Uzhur, Krasnoyarsk Territory. He retired with the rank of sergeant [5] . On July 7, 1989, he received a spinal injury [3] .

In 1995 he graduated from the Novokuznetsk boarding school for the disabled with a degree in watchmaking and radio mechanics, and two years later opened an electronics repair company [6] .

In 2006 he was admitted to the Union of Journalists [1] .

In 2007 he graduated from the Osinnikovsky Mining Technical College [2] with a degree in State and Municipal Administration [1] .

In 2011, he was elected to the State Duma of the sixth convocation from the Kemerovo region [4] [6] .

In 2014, he graduated from the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation [2] .

Sergei Anatolyevich is the initiator of 74 bills in the State Duma [7] .

Registered for a preliminary vote on the selection of candidates for the EP in the elections of September 18, 2016 in the Novokuznetsk constituency.

Sporting Achievements

Despite a spinal injury sustained in 1989, after which Sergei Poddubny only moves in a wheelchair, he leads an active lifestyle. Since 1997, he began to professionally engage in table tennis , took part in the Parasibiriads, and since 1999, in the championships of Russia. From the same year he is a member of the Russian team. Later, he repeatedly became the winner and prize winner of the national championship, in 2008 and 2012 he represented Russia at the Paralympic Games in Beijing [3] [8] , in 2010 he won the World Cup in Korea [9] , and the next year he won the European Championship in Croatia [10] .

In addition to participating in competitions, Poddubny pays attention to the promotion of wheelchair sports. He participates in motor races and is a correspondent for the regional newspaper Invalid [3] . He was awarded the sign "Sports valor of the Kuzbass" [11] . Poddubny, along with boxers Nikolai Valuev and Yuri Arbachakov, was elected a participant in the Olympic torch relay in Kuzbass on the eve of the Sochi Olympics [12] .
