Denis Mamadou Gerhard Cuspert ( German: Denis Mamadou Gerhard Cuspert ), known by the stage name Deso Dogg ( October 18, 1975 , West Berlin - January 17, 2018 , Deir ez-Zor , Syria ) - German rapper, then a participant in the civil war in Syria , fighter and propagandist of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant [1] . Biography

Cuspert was born in 1975 in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. Father is Ghanaian , mother is German . The father abandoned the family when Cuspert was still a child [2] . His mother married a U.S. Army officer with whom Cusperpt had ongoing conflicts. Denis Kuspert spent some time in a juvenile detention center [3] . In a 2011 interview, he said that he had grown up in an atmosphere of racism: “Although my mother was German, some teachers called me“ black ”and treated the Muslim children badly” [4] . For about five years, Cuspert spent in an orphanage for difficult children; he also lived on a farm in Namibia, where he was sent by German social workers for rehabilitation purposes [4] .

According to him, in the early 1990s, he participated in protests against the Gulf War : “We walked the streets, shouted and burned the American flag” [4] . The US invasion of Iraq in 2003 was a new source of conflict with the stepfather [4] . Cuspert joined a youth gang; According to him, he was in search of identity and found it among children of Arab and Turkish immigrants [4] .

In 1995, Denis Cuspert began his career as a rapper [4] . After signing with Streetlife Entertainment, three of Cuspert's albums were released: Schwarzer Engel (2006), Geeni'z in collaboration with Jasha (2008) and Alle Augen auf mich (2009).

In 2010, he nearly died in a car accident, suffering a clinical death [3] . After the adoption of Islam in the same year, Cuspert suspended his musical career and took the Muslim name Abu Malik [5] . Denis was a member of the German Salafi organization Millatu Ibrahim [6] . He later moved to Egypt , and from there to Syria , where he took part in the civil war on the side of anti-government forces. In September 2013, during the fighting in the city of Aazaz in northern Syria , Denis Cuspert was injured in a Syrian air raid [3] .

In 2014, Cuspert took the oath of allegiance ( bai ) to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS). Denis appeared in the propaganda videos of the group, in one of which he had in his hands a severed head of a person [7] ; He was also the performer of a number of ISIS Nashids in German. According to experts, the former rapper occupied a prominent position in ISIS as a German-speaking propagandist of the ideals of this organization [8] . According to several media reports, he was killed on April 20, 2014 in Syria as a result of the conflict between ISIS and the Al-Nusra Front [9] . However, according to the German newspaper Die Welt , another ISIS member was killed that day, who, like Kuspert, bore the pseudonym Abu Talha al-Almani [10] .

The death of Cuspert on January 18, 2018 was reported by media loyal to IG, publishing photos of his body: according to the statement of the IG, Cuspert died in battles against the Free Syrian Army [17] .

Family

Denis Cuspert was married to FBI employee Danielle Green, who was investigating terrorism cases [18] . Green was fluent in German, she had a master's degree in history. Since 2011, she worked as a translator at the FBI and had access to secret affairs related to national security. In the summer of 2014, Green, being married to the US military, through Turkey entered the war-torn Syria, where she married Kusperta and lived with him. Green warned her new husband that the FBI was watching him. About a month later, she freely returned to the United States, where she was arrested. The prosecutor asked to mitigate her punishment for cooperating with the investigation; Green was sentenced to two years in prison.
