Biography
Laydnen poppy Con Mell was a native of the Sein Maeluydir Leinster septum, whose lands were located in the lower reaches of the Slani River [1] . His brother was King Wu Hennseligue Ku Hongelt Mack Con Mell. [2] In the Leinster Book , it is reported that Ku Hongelt owned the throne for five years, which should relate the time of his death to 717 [3] . However, according to historian , the ruler of Wu Hennselig is identical to that of Ku Hongelt, whose death was mentioned in the “ Annals of Ulster ” in 724 [4] . After the death of his brother, Laidknen inherited power over South Leinster [2] [3] .
According to the list of kings Wye Hennselaig from the Leinster Book, Laydknen poppy Kon Con Mell reigned ten years [3] . This information is consistent with the Irish annals dating the death of Layknen 727 year. According to the testimony of these sources , the ruler Wu Hennselaig died while fighting at Maistiu (modern Mullagmast ) with Dunhad mak Murhado . Based on the text of the “Annals of Ulster”, calling this event a “battle between two Leinsters,” historians conclude that Donhad in this conflict acted only as the ruler of Wu Dunlinge (North Leinster), and not the whole kingdom [5] . The war between Laidknen and Dunhad is thought to have been the result of the internecine war that swept Leinster after King Moorhad poppy Brown . The victory at Maistiu allowed Dunhad to inherit the title of Leinster king [6] [7] .
After the death of Laidknen, poppy of Kon Mella, the power over Wye Hennselaig passed to Elotach poppy Faelhon [2] [3] .
