Biography
Krundmael Erbuylk was one of the sons of Ronan Mack Colmain , ruler of Wu Hennselaig and possibly the king of all Leinster, who died in 624 [1] [2] [3] .
After the death of King Ronan, Colmain poppy was first given power over Wu Hennselaig by Krundmael Bol Luata , who fell on the battlefield in 628 [4] , and then Kolgu Bolg Luata , who died in battle in 647 [5] . Perhaps the winner of Kolgu was the Leinster king Faëlan mack Colmain of the Wu Dunlinge clan, who was at the time waging war with the ruler Wu Hennselaig [6] . After the death of Kolg, power over South Leinster passed to Krundmael Erbuylk [3] . In the Leinster Book , he was mistakenly endowed with only four years of rule over Wye Hennselaig [7] .
Krundmael Erbuylk is mentioned in the list of Leinster’s rulers, preserved in the Leinster Book, only as a contender for the throne. According to medieval sources, the Faithlan Mack Colmain, who died in 666 [8] and ruled the kingdom for thirty years [9] , was the Leinster monarch at that time. However, perhaps Faelan’s death should date from an earlier time, since in the report on the death of Krundmael in 656 in the Annals of Ulster , he was called the king of all Leinster [2] [10] [11] . At the same time, the Annals of Tygernach mention Krundmael only as the ruler of the southern regions of the kingdom [12] . Krundmael's successor to the throne of Wye Hennselaig was his brother Kummaskah poppy Ronayn [3] , who ruled, according to the Leinster Book, for sixteen years [9] .
The sons of Krundmael Erbuylka from marriage with Feilengen Ingen Suibne from the Munster Dessi were Aed Ron, Fiahra and Kolgu. The first of them became the founder of a clan of rulers of the small Leinster kingdom Ui Dron, whose lands were in the territory of the modern county of Carlow [13] . The great-grandson of the second, Aed mack Kolggen , as well as his ancestor was the king of Leinster [1] [2] [14] . Krundmael's daughter, Eitne, married Failbe poppy Domnaill from the Wie Bairrhe family [15] [16] .
