Kantho ( Vietnamese. Cần Thơ ) is the administrative unit of the city of central subordination in Vietnam , the largest city in the Mekong Delta . The population of the administrative unit of 5 urban areas of the city of Can Tho itself, as well as 4 rural suburban areas is 1,214.1 thousand inhabitants [1] , including urban 805,200 [2] for 2012.

It is located 1888 km from Hanoi and 169 km from Ho Chi Minh City [3] .
Throughout its history, the city is closely connected with the river. Now Can Tho is the largest city in the Mekong Delta and one of the main tourist centers of the delta. The main attractions of the city are floating markets (trade takes place on boats) and bird gardens.
The largest universities are Can Tho University and the Mekong Delta Rice Institute [4] .
In April 2010, traffic was opened on the new bridge. Before this ferry was only a ferry. At the time of opening, the bridge was in 20th place in the world in terms of cable-stayed span.
