Crater Kolshyutter ( lat. Kohlschütter ) - a large ancient impact crater in the northern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the German astronomer and astrophysicist Ernst Arnold Kolshyutter (1883-1969) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1970. The formation of the crater refers to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The closest neighbors of the Kolschüter Crater are the Leonov Crater in the northwest; Nagaoka Crater in the north; Konstantinov crater in the northeast; Van Gent Crater in the east; Mills Crater in the south-southeast and St. John Crater in the south-west. To the north-north-west of the Kolschüter Crater is the Sea of Moscow [2] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter - 56.3 km [3] , depth - 2.4 km [1] .
The Kolschüter crater has a polygonal shape, is significantly destroyed over a long time of its existence. The shaft is smooth and difficult to distinguish, a noticeable large crater adjoins the northwestern part of the shaft, the southern part of the shaft has a lower height. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1150 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 2,300 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is flat, dotted with many small craters. To the east of the center of the bowl are the remains of two connected small craters; a shallow furrow runs along the eastern edge of the bowl.
