History

After the establishment of the Chinese Ming Empire, the areas north of the Great Wall still remained under the control of the Mongols, and only in 1551 the troops of the Ningxia garrison (宁夏 卫) were stationed here. Under the Qing Empire, in 1725 these places became part of Pinlo County (平罗县), and already in 1726 they were allocated to a separate Baofeng County (宝丰县), but in 1739 the county center was destroyed by an earthquake, and Baofeng County was rejoined to Pinlo County.

Ningxia Province was established in 1929, and Pinlo County became part of it. In 1941, the northern part of Pinlo County was allocated to a separate Huinong County (惠 农 县).

In 1954, Ningxia Province was disbanded, and Huinong County became part of Gansu Province . In 1958, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was created, and Huinong County became part of it. In 1960, in connection with the beginning of coal mining in these places, a decision was made to create the city of Shizuishan, and Huinun County was disbanded: 10 volosts and towns of the county were transferred to the newly formed city, and the rest of the land was annexed to Pinlo County.

In Yinbe County (银 北 地区) was established in 1972, and the city of Shizuishan became part of it. At the end of 1972, Shizuishan was divided into three districts, and these places became District No. 2. In November 1975, Yinbei County was disbanded. In 1981, District No. 2 was renamed the Shizuishan District (石嘴山 区).

In 1987, Huinong County was re-established, subordinate to the authorities of Shizuishan. On January 30, 2004, Huinong County and Shizuishan District were merged into Huinong District.

Administrative Division

The district is divided into 6 street committees , 3 villages and 3 volosts .
