Washington Wizards is an American professional basketball club based in Washington , DC . Speaker in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team was founded in 1961 in Chicago ( Illinois ) under the name Chicago Packers, but a year later it changed its name to Chicago Zephyrs. In 1963, the club moved to Baltimore ( Maryland ) and was renamed Baltimore Bullets, and in 1973 Landover (Maryland), where it first performed under the name Capital Bullets and then Washington Bullets. In 1978, the Bullets won their first and only NBA title in their history. In 1997, the club again changed its name to “Washington Wizards,” under which it performs to this day. Over the course of their history, Wizards have entered the playoffs twenty-three times, six times won the division, four times the winners of the conference and won one NBA title ^{[1] [2] [3]} .

Throughout the history of the club, 23 head coaches worked in it. The first leader of the team was Jim Pollard , who worked with her for one season ^[4] . Under the leadership of Dick Motta, the club managed to win its only league title ^[5] , and Jin Shu was the only coach to receive an award for the best NBA coach (in 1969 and 1982) ^[6] . No Wizards mentor was included in the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach, but four were included as players: Pollard, Buddy Jennett , Kay Jones and Wes Anseld ^{[4] [7] [8] [9]} . Shu is the club leader in matches with the team in the regular season (1027) and wins (522), and Jones is the leader in the percentage of matches won (63.0%) ^[8] . Under the leadership of Motta, the team spent the largest number of matches in the playoffs (51) and won (27) ^[5] . Mike Farmer , Bob Stack , Jim Brovelli , Leonard Hamilton and Ed Tapscott spent their entire coaching career at Wizards ^{[10] [11] [12] [13] [14]} .
