Location
The tract at the foot of Chimgan was named Unikkibulok - "The Twelve Keys ".
A paved road, which was previously a section of the Tashkent - Brichmulla highway, passes through the former natural boundary ; during the construction of the road, the pass, which was called βCretaceousβ, was partially razed. Currently, the road passes through the village of Yubileyny and is adjacent to the main road near the village of Yusupkhana.
Not far from the camp site is the mountain peak Small Chimgan (2099 meters).
Ski and Sports Complexes in Chimgan
In the tract, at the foot of Chimgan, at an altitude of 1600 m, a large tourist ski resort Chimgan [1] , children's recreation camps and sanatoriums were built. In the mid-1980s, a cable car was built in Beldersay, located 7 km from the Chimgan ski complex.
Both ski resorts are located 7 km from each other, the height of accommodation in Chimgan is 1600 m, in Beldersay - from 1300 to 1600 m, although it is possible to stay at the meteorological station on the top of Kumbel mountain (2300m), to which the second phase of the cable car leads (" mop"). The slopes of skiing in both resorts are northern, so the snow cover lasts a long time.
Due to the lack of funding for the resort infrastructure, the cableway and other lifts are very old, but still work. The slopes were not prepared by snowcat from 2005 to 2011, but in the 2011β2012 season, the snowcat reappeared on the slope [2] and the republican ski competitions resumed [3] . The season starts from mid-December (with the exception of rare winters, when the season opens on November 7). The whole season can be divided into 2 parts. The first one is pre-New Year snowfalls, it is almost certain that snowfalls alternate with sunny days almost one-on-one. That is, virgin soil is almost every day. Then, around January 10-11, the snowfalls stop for a long enough period - about 20 days, and then almost the whole of February begins to be strewed with a new force.
Off-piste skiing is widely represented here, both from fairly safe descents and to very dangerous ones. It is recommended to walk off the track only with guides Backcountry trips and descents have different durations (from 20 minutes to 5 hours) and elevation differences (from 400 to 1200 m), from simple virgin fields to dangerous backstage descents.
Tourism in Chimgan
Vertex
The true peak is located at an altitude of 3309 meters above sea level, and a cross is installed on the true peak. Since the ascent to the true summit can be dangerous because of the rocky areas, the triangulation mark is located below, at an altitude of 3275 meters. As a rule, the final point of tourist and climbing routes is exactly the triangulation sign, under which the tour is located, within which athletes leave notes about the conquest of the summit. Memorial plaques are attached to the triangulation mark in honor of the dead Uzbek climbers, as well as in honor of the lieutenant of the Uzbek army, who died in 2000 during the events in Burchmulla . At the top there are snowfields that do not melt all year round. From the top there is an excellent view of the surrounding mountains, including the Pulatkhan Plateau. The record for the climb to the top was set in 1994 and is 1 hour 45 minutes [4] .
Routes to the top of Big Chimgan
The route along the Western Ridge is most popular with tourists. The route starts in the Aksai gorge, or from the road not far away, and then along one of several buttresses, there is a rather steep climb to the trail. After the initial climb follows a practically horizontal section of the path with a minimal gradient. From a height of 2,600-2,700 meters, the slope becomes steep, a grotto with memorial plates (including Svetlana Baskakova) is located just above the 3,000 meter mark. Next to the grotto is the "gendarme" - a rocky site. the passage of which is only possible traverse . In winter, climbing along the central couloir is popular, the route has a winter difficulty category of 1B. To pass the route requires special equipment: cats and ice axes. The easiest tourist routes (although requiring sufficient time) are the routes along the eastern ridge (approach from Gulkam, Mazarsay and Komsomolets pass) and along the southern ridge (Beldersay - Kumbel pass - Takhta pass).
Climbing Cemetery
Monuments to Ilyas Tukhvatullin and Ivan Lobanov, and on the grotto of the western ridge two memorable tablets were nailed: one to the memory of Tukhvatullin and Lobanov, the second to the memory of Andrei Baynazarov [5]
