Biography
He was born on February 2, 1979 in Tbilisi, where he was baptized in infancy. In 1992, he moved to Barcelona with his mother, where he graduated from high school. At the same time, he began to consciously attend the only Orthodox church in Barcelona, owned by the Serbian Patriarchate , where he served at the altar [1] .
In 1997, together with a large group of Georgian believers, he joined the jurisdiction of the Boston Synod [1] [2] .
In 1998, studying at a university in England, he became acquainted with the abbot of the American Holy Preobrazhensky monastery in the USA, hegumen Isaac, and in 1999 he visited the monastery in Boston, where he met with the founder of the Transfiguration Monastery "Boston Synod" archimandrite Panteleimon (Metropoulos) . After completing his education in the UK, he returned to Georgia, where he took an active part in church life [1] .
In 2007, he entered into the brotherhood of the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Boston, and in March 2010 he was tonsured a monk with the name Gregory in honor of St. Gregory Palamas [1] .
On April 29, 2012, Metropolitans Ephraim of Boston (Spanos) and Macarius of Toronto (Qatre) , as well as Bishop Dimitri (Kyriakou) of Carlisle in the Cathedral Mark of Ephesus in Roslindale, Massachusetts, was ordained bishop of Concord [1] .
On August 13, 2015, he was elected Metropolitan of Boston, First Hierarch of the Boston Synod [3] .
