Biography
Born in Pittsburgh , but moved to Alabama as a child. After graduating from college, Wilson worked as a primary school teacher for some time, but then decided to link her career with film. After winning a local beauty contest, she moved to Hollywood , where in 1915 she got a job as an actress at the film studio “Victor Film Company”. In 1919, Wilston signed a contract with Paramount Pictures Studios, where she fruitfully starred until 1927. Among the most significant paintings of her time with her participation are “Miss Lulu Bett” (1921) and “Covered Wagon” (1923). In 1922, the actress was included in the first list of “ WAMPAS Baby Stars ”.
In addition, she also had prominent roles in The Disappearing American (1925), The Great Gatsby (1926), Shining Eyes (1934) and The Wedding Gift (1936). By the end of the 1930s, the actress had almost completely left the big screen, devoting herself to work in the theater, including in Broadway productions. Since the beginning of the television era, Wilson has performed a number of roles in television series in the early 1950s.
The actress died in 1988 from pneumonia in Nevada at the age of 93 years. [1] Lees Wilson is buried in Forest Lown cemetery in Glendale, California. Her contribution to the US film industry is marked by a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
