Metropolitan Demetrius ( Greek Μητροπολίτης Δημήτριος in the world of Ioannis Bekariis Greek Ιωάννης Μπεκιάρης ; born in 1948 , Loutraki , Greece ) - the bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church (as it is formally called the Archdiocese of Constantine Metropolitan of Gumenis (since 1991).

Biography

Born in 1948 in the city of Loutraki, in Greece. In 1972 he graduated from the theological school of the University of Athens .

On September 6, 1975, he was tonsured a monk with the name of Demetrius , and on September 8, he was ordained a hierodeacon . January 14, 1976 was ordained to the rank of hieromonk in Kavala .

Since 1984 - protosinkell in Athens. On November 20, 1984, he was elected abbot (rector) of the Asomata-Petrakis Monastery, and also worked as the first director of the church radio station.

On October 15, 1989, he was consecrated bishop of Larissa and Tyrnava with the elevation to the rank of Metropolitan (on February 18, 1990, by decision No. 3804/90, the election to the Larissa Chair was canceled). On August 20, 1991 he was elected titular Metropolitan of Guardia.

September 10, 1991 was elected to the newly established Gumenis Metropolis [2] .
